Roof Warlock

The Roof Warlock allows for a quick generation of roofs.

"Please just sign the contract right there so we can get started."

Quick Start

Start the Roof Warlock by clicking on its icon in the toolbar. Then drag on the build plate to generate a roof as shown below.

To confirm a roof's creation, click anywhere outside of it or press Enter or click done on the bottom right.

Presets

In the right side menu, you can see a lot of buttons with different icons on them. These are the presets. If you click on any of them, that preset is then loaded, and this part of the menu collapses to the very top. Each preset is already completely configured for you, but, of course, you can still customize its behavior further (see configuration below)

If you want to change to a different preset, you can expand the Presets & Search menu by clicking its header at the very top of the right-side menu.

If the number of presets becomes overwhelming, you can filter which presets are displayed by typing in the search bar at the top or by expanding the filter menu next to the search bar and selecting the themes you want to filter for.

Roof Dimensions

After choosing your preset, click and drag on the build plate. A preview of your roof will be created and will follow your mouse around until you release the left mouse button. After releasing the mouse button, you can still adjust the preview by clicking and dragging on the orange arrows on either side of the preview.

Accepting

You can then accept and consequently generate your roof in three ways:

done

button in the bottom bar

Attachables

After accepting the roof, the right side menu will display fitting attachables for your roof. You can filter them with the buttons at the top of the Attachables section.

After clicking on an attachable, it will be highlighted by an orange border, and follow your mouse on the build plate. If you then hover your roof, the attachable will snap to it and turn green, indicating that it can be placed here. You can rotate the attachable using Q or E and stop it from snapping by holding down ⇧ .

Once you are happy with the position of your attachable, click to place it onto the roof.

If you want to remove any attachables you've previously placed, click on them again while placing any attachable, and they should disappear again.

Editing Roofs

After accepting a roof, you can still edit it to a certain extent. Click on any completed roof to select it. You can then move it around by using W A S D , rotate it with Q and E , and mirror it with M . You can also delete the roof by pressing DEL .

Configuration

Using the right-side menu, you can change the kind of roof generated.

Materials

The very first thing you can change is which material will be used for your roof's sides and fronts. To change the material, click on the large button displaying your preset's icon. This will open a dropdown showing all materials available in your account.

Roof Type Configuration

Icon Name Description Gable Gable roofs have two opposing sides and flat fronts connected by a gable at the top. Hipped Hipped roofs are basically roof pyramids with no fronts and just shingled sides. Dutch Dutch roofs combine the best of both worlds with hipped bottoms and gable tops.

Roof Angle Configuration

Icon Name Description Low Create roofs with a low angle (using the D-Template) of roughly 30° Regular Create roofs with a regular angle (using the A-Template) of roughly 45° Steep Create roofs with a steep angle (using the IA-Template) of roughly 60°

Front Style Configuration

Icon Name Description Thick Fronts will feature thick 7mm / 1/4" templates. Thin Fronts will feature thin 3mm / 3/32" templates.

Overhangs Configuration

Lastly, you can enable or disable Overhangs. We refer to the part of the roof that protrudes over the roof's front as an overhang. Overhangs are relevant only to Gable and the upper part of Dutch roofs. For the most part, we recommend keeping this configuration set to its default, as some asset packs work better with overhangs while others work better without them.

Save Configuration

Finally, you can decide to save your configuration as a custom preset. This preset will be saved in your account and will appear in the Preset & Search section under custom configurations. You can enter a name for your custom preset to identify it again easily!

Banning

Underneath the Configuration section, you'll find the Banning section. Here you can exclude and include certain models from being used on your roof. Any transparent models are banned; all normal-looking ones will be used.

You can change a model's status by clicking on it. You will notice that some models have more than two statuses. This is called prioritization. For roof fronts, you can prioritize certain models to be used ONLY on the uppermost floor or only on the lower floors. For roofs, it's the opposite. Here you can prioritize them for use ONLY on the lowest or upper floors.

Where this is necessary for getting good-looking roofs, we have already prioritized via the presets, so we recommend that you don't change these settings unless you want to experiment!

Banned models (transparent) will not be used when creating roofs.
