Hierarchy Menu
You can open the hierarchy menu by pressing H on your keyboard, or by pressing the orange double_arrow button on the top right. This will overlay the hierarchy menu over your right-side menu. You can easily revert this by pressing the button again.
In the hierarchy menu, you can precisely control every object in your scene.
Story or Floor Controls
At the top of the hierarchy menu, you can see the floor controls.
Different floors of the current scene. The orange one is the story you are currently in.
You can toggle the visibility of any floor via the visibility button and delete any floor by pressing the delete button. You can add additional floors by pressing the add button. By clicking on the numbered buttons, you will move the grid to that floor, allowing you to interact with the models on that floor.
Object Buttons
The hierarchy is a sorted list of all objects on your currently active floor.
You can highlight any object by hovering over its button and you can select an object by clicking its button.
You can hold down Ctrl (use the Control key on Mac) to select multiple individual objects or hold down ⇧ to select anything between your last selected object and your new click. You can also right-click any selected object here to open the context menu .
Displaying grouped objects of the current scene.
There is a lot of information here, so let's dissect what this tells us.
Icon meanings
You can see the highest button is a group, by the folder icon. The small colored area to the left shows the group's tint color. With this information, you can most likely already spot the group in the scene. With the visibility icon on the right, you can hide and show the group.
Inside the group, we have two models and a geometry.
The first one is a corner, as we can tell by the icon next to its name.
You can change the name of any object by double-clicking its button and typing your desired name. Then either press Enter or left-click anywhere in the scene to confirm the change.
The second model is a wall. And it has Attachables attached to it. We can manage these Attachables by expanding the model button with the expand chevron_right button.
Attached Attachables
As you can see, the model has three Attachables attached, one to the Interior texture and two to the Exterior texture. These also immediately show you their color, name, and whether they are visible or not.
Attachables can get quite complex with all their icons, so let's talk about what each individual icon means.
Attachables are very complicated and it can be difficult to achieve the result you want with them. You should mostly just leave them the way we preconfigured them for you unless you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve.
An optional attachable in the hierarchy menu.
First, you will see a link or link_off icon. This decides whether the attachable should be included in the STL as a part of the model it is attached to (for example a door frame, or a painting), or if it should be exported as a completely separate STL that needs to be printed individually (Secret door inserts, scatter items, etc.).
Next, you will see a folder or create_new_folder icon. This indicates if these Attachables will be exported as one STL together with all other optional Attachables of this model, or as a completely separate STL. (For example, you want the torch on an LED wall to be printed together with the carriage, therefore they need the folder icon to be active)
And lastly, you will see either the last_page or keyboard_arrow_right icon. These indicate whether the Attachable will move independently of the texture it is attached to. So making the model thick or thin will move the attachable with the texture or keep it in the same space.
(For example, you want a doorframe to always stick to its wall texture, while the door blade always needs to stay in the center of the model)
Some casters do not allow you to open the hierarchy menu because we are doing some secret magic behind the scenes and the hierarchy menu would reveal our tricks. Just go back to a normal tool and you will be able to use the hierarchy menu again.
